HOMEWORK UPDATES

Dear Families and Guardians,

Our second grade team has been focused on working with your children to increase their confidence and fluency in reading and math skills by using our Earl Boyles Portaportal. For those who feel that the weekly homework assignments are a struggle or not challenging enough the ebportaportal is a great option, please encourage your child to continue writing a paragraph each week in there homework binders.

Parents have been asking for additional activities for their children to do at home to support foundational skills, as well as for those students who need more challenging work as they master the second grade curriculum.

Once you are on our website go to the Teachers Blog’s and Portaportal, then go to our Second Grade Portaportal. At this point your child will know where to go and practice on their reading, and math skills.

This website is always an option for more practice and supplemental work. It is always a great idea to have your child practice their keyboarding skills, as well!

Please note, your child should know their passwords, but if they can’t remember please let us know and we will provide them for you.

Welcome to the 2015-2016 School Year

Dear Students and Families,                                                                      

Welcome to 2^nd grade we excited about the opportunity to get to know you, and we are  looking forward to a happy and productive school year.

Curriculum areas we will focus on this year include math, writing, reading, science, and many opportunities to build a strong community within our classrooms.

Our homework policies will focus around responsibility. Homework will be given out on Monday and needs to be returned by Friday. It will be your child’s responsibility to complete and turn it in on time. Homework will never be a surprise to your child. All homework given will be a review of what we have already studied.

This year 2^nd grade will have the opportunity to utilize our Earl Boyles Portaportal to access various websites for your child’s growth.

Studies show that parental involvement in a child’s education is one of the strongest indicators of student achievement. We hope you will make it a priority this year to attend as many school-sponsored events as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns or if you would like to visit our classrooms, schedule a conference, or volunteer to help out, you can contact us before 8:00 or after 3:15. The best times to reach us is before school or immediately after school. We are happy to meet with you and discuss your child’s progress.
